About Will

I have worked in financial services for over 20 years, with more than half that time specialising in FCA regulatory compliance across major financial institutions including MBNA, Bank of America, and investment bank Merrill Lynch.

Most recently, I held the roles of Chief Compliance Officer (SMF16) and MLRO (SMF17) at discretionary investment management firms, where I experienced first-hand the unique pressures of these senior manager roles. Investment management compliance isn't like banking or insurance compliance; you're balancing regulatory accountability with commercial agility, managing conflicts in a way that protects clients without strangling the business model. That tension is what I understand deeply, and why I focus my consultancy work specifically on investment managers.

You need support from someone who's actually sat in that chair and navigated those pressures. I can help you. That's why I established WJP Compliance.

Outside of Work

My wife Emma and I have two pre-teen daughters who keep life interesting. You'll often find me running my side hustle, WJP Taxis—an unregistered charity with two beneficiaries who have an impressive appetite for destinations including Brownies, dance classes, and gymnastics.

When time allows, I pursue hobbies that include mountain biking in the Welsh hills and squash (though considerably less frequently than I'd like).
